This weeks theme is EMPTY.

I wondered if I would ever get to use these pictures. What you see here is a small series of photots that show the abandon EMPTY vault of a former bank. You will notice the EMPTY safety deposit boxes. Believe me they were EMPTY, I checked. I had the pleasure having my office moved for a few weeks into a former bank. One of the treasures was this old bank vault.

Not everyday you see a bank vault or at least not every day you can take pictures of one.

Thank you very much for visiting. Have a wonderful weekend.

Friday's Child, I thought about that to. It was kind of amazing seeing all that.

Do you think if we all spent the night in there the ghost of dollars past would come and haunt us?

This is sooooooo awesome. Like getting pics in a closed museum or something.

Now there's something I always wanted to do. Swear! Spend the night in our museum with like...just one friend.

We have a mummy. Wigs me right out cause they unwrapped one of her hands.

Wow, an empty bank vault, very interesting! I wonder how long it took to get every safe deposit box empty.

Crabs and overnight at the museum would be fun but no touching... Look at some of those boxes, they are big. They probably had jewels and other fun things inside, maybe bonds. OK, first the vault then work our way up to the museum. What, you want to take Ethel instead... pout.

Thanks for stopping by Daisy. You know I had not thought about that but good question. Just opening each any every one of those would probably have taken an entire afternoon.

LOL LOL..et tu Barman?....It seems everyone Who touches me turns out to be a cancer. All my boyfriends were Cancer & my husband & son too...So are most of the ppl in family.
Empty...a very nice and thought provoking theme...One could write a whole post on that one...[ Ans you already did see?]
Yes religion is very a very serious issue in India...even lawas revolve around it...US & other countries did not ban the da vinci code, where as India , an essentially Hindu country where muslims form the minority banned The satanic verses...
Religious sentiments are taken very seriously here..I wonder why...& ppl also waste a lot of money on relegious rituals.

Jan, now that I can no longer get into the building, I get the idea. I should of gotten some fake money and put it in the vault and had fun with it and pictures.

Mona, myself it seems like there should be a middle ground. I think people should take religion more serious than they do over here. Where as it just seems like people are much to serious in your country and around them. My only concern is when someone takes it to a fanatic extreme. Certainly there is plenty of room for people to worship in any way they feel is appropriate. And I am certainly all for customs. Thank you for visiting Mona and you know, I seem to have found a lot of "Cancer" people on the blogs I visit. Kind of interesting isn't it. I suspect you are surrounded by some wonderful people.

Very cool! My grandpa worked in a bank when I was little and I always wanted to go into the vault. It seemed so mysterious!

Jennr I love your picture too. Nice bowl and cute daughter.

Jane, it felt kind of odd to be walking in there even though the bank was long gone. I looked around for cameras taking my picture and security guards. I just knew I should not be in there. Anyway I think you were right about the feeling of your.

That's true -- it's not often at all that we'd see a bank vault! I even worked at a bank one summer but I don't think I ever saw the vault, certainly not open anyway. I think I would have checked the safe deposit boxes, too.

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for visiting Goggles. How your weekend is going well too.

Expert Traveler, I so loved your pictures as I always do. You are so good.

Barbara, wow that is surprising. I would have expected that someone it the back would be able to go in there but why would thay. Interesting.

Ann and Gab, here is the thing. We were remodeling our floor where I work for the first time in like 12 years. We rent space in the building this bank was in and the owner of the building allowed us to use the bank space for a few months while to remodeled our floor and the floor below us. Now I am not sure if it is being remodeled or just sitting there. While we were there they were bringing people through to look at it. I know my parents went to see a someone that dealt with a lot of peoples wills. They had moved into a former bank and one service they offered was to keep their policy in a vault for them for a fee of course. Maybe that will be the fate of this bank too.

That vault would be the perfect place to be safe from a tornado. We had friends who were in the bank when a twister came through. The manager herded everyone in the vault until it was over... good thing.. the vault was all that was left standing.

SRP, it did look pretty safe. I think the building has a bomb shelter in the basement from way back. It had that shelter symbol somewhere. I should see if I can find it. That would make an interesting picture of times gone by.

TK, I would have settled for a dollar bill but yes, that would have been something.

Pea, nice picture. I think I have less then 5 dollars in there so I am not that far behind you.

Manny, mine is not with me long anough to come back and haunt me.

Meeyauw, I just had an idea. Ever see the game show Deal or no Deal? We could play that with these safety deposit boxes. It would be so fun. Sorry, no Million dollar prize however.

FANTASTIC photos, Bryan! I used to work in a bank for many years and always like going into the vault and safe deposit areas. I think I mentioned once before my hubby and I also once owned a building that once housed a bank. We used the vault for storage when we ran our computer business. It was really cool.

Hope you're having a nice weekend!

I just managed to erase my comment. . .shortened version: great photos! Too bad you didn't get someone to let you plant a little fake money before y'all used that for an office the first day. .

IncogNito, you know when I walked in there I had kind of the same thought. That and make sure the door does not close while I am in there.

Marcia that would have been a fantastic thing to do. We had several groups that used the space, one at a time. I could have done that with each group. Gee where were you when I needed you? Great idea indeed.

you may as well be 57, bud...

ya, i'd be afraid the door would close and activate my fear of dying...i'd also be checking for money, like my sister used to do everytime she walked by a phone booth...she could NOT walk by a payphone without going over to see if there was money in the coin return...and this is an intelligent well educated nut, but she cannot go by a payphone without checking....is that a form of OCD?
