55Flash Fiction Friday

The lady vampire was circling.

It was only a matter of time before she
would swoop in for that fatal bite.

Alas she holds something over me
as I did not even struggle to get away.

Finally the Red Cross nurse cleans my arm and inserts
the needle. I hope I don’t become undead now.

OK, giving blood is not all that but it is still an important thing to do if you can. They are always in need of fresh meat ... I mean more blood as they always seem to be in a critical shortage.

If you would like to give Flash55 a try it is simple. Click on the link in my side panel. It will take you to a prior post that Suzie posted about it. It is easy to do and I think you will like it. Once you have posted please stop by and let Suzie know you played.

Not only an excellent 55 flash but a way to get the word out about how important donating is!

Very good, Bryan!

I need to give blood soon. I have the second rarest blood type (B-) so they are always in need.

I can't give either, so I'm very grateful for those who can and DO! :)

Happy Friday Bryan!

I hate giving blood. After 9/11, my whole hockey team gave blood, so I had to or be labeled as a selfish prick.

But great 55FFF.

I don't believe I've ever been able to say anything in just 55 words. I fear my brain would implode.

Nurses, vampires, blood, biting and the undead all in one 55?

Do you have any idea how turned-on I am right now?

I used to donate regularly. I even have a certificate from the Red Cross for donating a gallon of blood. I should get back to doing that again.

Thank you LW. I thought it would be nice to say something not that I donate all the time myself but some.

Mona, sometimes it feels like fangs. Most of the time it is just fine.

Gee JJ, maybe I should give like 40 times so I could weigh 20 pounds less. What a plan.

TC, I have a problem making them fiction but I just know I will get better.

Sign, with O+ I am considered the universal donor. I think no matter who you are they are looking for you. Oh man, I just read an article, it is O- that are universal donors. I was lied to.

Charles thank you. My Friday and the whole weekend went pretty well except for turning into a crispy critter.

Snowelf, there are lots of people that can not give for different reasons. Who you have been in contact with. What country you have visited. What problems you had in the past. Certain things in your blood. Bad for your health. But there are still lots of people that can give blood. More people should. In saying that I used to give 5 times a year (the maximum) now I only give maybe 3 times a year. I stay away in the winter.

Flash I was a little leary of giving but it turned out OK for me and I have only had a few minor problems. My main thing is it usually takes 1 hour and that just seems like a long time. When I was a kid it was much faster. I also do not appreciate reading the same thing over and over again every time I come. Oh well. As to 9/11 I stayed away on purpose. I thought this is stupid. A lot of people are latching on to this as something they could do. They waisted so much blood as it is only good for so long than it has to be pitched. I figured I would wait a while and give once things calmed down. I suppose people would have picked on me too for doing that.

S I hope you enjoyed the pictures. THC ... that sounds like something from the discovery channel. :) You are not alone. There are lots of reasons you can not give. My buddy false tested for something and they black listed him. He actually cared about it enough that he talked to his doctor about it and eventually was back on before they found something else. I am not sure if he gives any more. Shame as he would do it every 8 weeks for life given the ability to do so.

Good for you Snow. I do not know if they do it but I wish they would introduce more people to giving blood in high school when I fist gave. Hit em early and maybe they will keep giving as adults.

Wow LW, third rarest. I am but a peasant as I have the most common in almost every country. Oh and did you know that only 1.2% of the people in the country have negative (as in A- like you have) blood. South Korean is even worse with 0.35% having negative blood. Compare to the USA with 1 percent. What a difference. Who knew? I knew there was something special about you. :)

Crabby I know you could do it. Write a 55 then chop it up into chapters. Sooner or later you would get it to 55. Not working for you ah? I tried. Seriously I bet you could if you tried. I seemed strange at first but some people really do well with this.

LW, I took last place in golfing (again), was fried to a crispy critter in the process, got in a little drinking, a little having fun, and a little work on the computer. It would have been better but I enjoyed myself. Well other then the crispy critter stuff.

Oh I think I found my way to Strumpets heart!

You know it is funny. I received my 5 gallon pin a long time ago. Once I moved hear I find out they track you at the region you are in so I started all over again. They tried to get me excited that I was giving a gallon. "You can get a pin." Sorry guys, been there, done that. But it really is great. Now a days a lot of people one do things once or twice and just go away. That is wonderful Jan.

LW, you are right. I was missing and still am. I need to get some scanning done of slides and pictures before this weekend if I can and I am also trying to get my lawn kicked up a notch if I can. It looks pretty sad right now. I will be back posting tomorrow and I thought I would finally answer everyone here. Sorry for taking so long.
