Boy was that fun. Last Friday just as I was getting ready to head out for the weekend I saw them. There were a few ants. Not really sure where they were coming from and could not tell where they were heading. I had no choice but to head out and deal with them when I got back after the weekend.

Oh My Gosh there were a lot of them when I got back. Not like a million in on place or anything but still. Having taken my computer down with me over the weekend I decided to not hock it back up and get some work done. I knew if I hooked it up the temptation of bloging would be to great.

Well finally after midnight Wednesday (so early Thursday) I finally hooked the computer back up. So are the ants gone. I thought I did pretty good but you know, I just looked and they are again crawling on the power cord for the computer. Arg!!!!

Any thsi weekend was fun. I went to the Detroit area to celebrate my birthday once again. Cake, ice cream, BBQ, swimming, and prizes later it was time to head off for the evening entertainment. First up the Hard Rock Café in Detroit. The music was very enjoyable, the place was nice but you know what... it was the person that waited on us the made this a very enjoyable evening. She was so funny and observant and witty and went along with things like a trouper. We were held up waiting for two cousins to show up. We were there probably over an hour waiting. Well she asked some questions and when they showed up she said ah Paul is here now, we can get started. A little while later the manager showed up with a drink and said “here is your drink Paul” and a few other staff did similar things. Paul is the kidder so he was having a good time with it to.

In the end it was super and the best time I have ever had at a restaurant ever. Oh and I ended up with a nice tasteful Hard Rock Café Detroit shirt too. What more could one ask for.

Next up a short stroll on the streets of Detroit and we were at the Greektown Casino. Now I have never been in a casino before. There were machines and people EVERYWHERE. It was something else. Maybe it was because it was 7/7/ 07 which was suppose to be lucky. Anyway I wander every which place and then plunked myself down at the penny slots. Yes I am a big spender. I hate to gamble since I know it is far more likely the house will win and I will lose.

I was spending between 1 cent to 20 cents per push on the slots and sometimes I did OK, other times not so good. I still have no clues on what payed off sometimes. Final results, I was down $5.00 after 1 hour of play and that was only because I was trying to bet bigger at the end since some of our party WAS READY TO GO pretty early. Video poker was not kind to them. I am not going to get addicted or anything but I can see myself going back. Oh SignGurl...

Oh and by the way, I felt out of my element at the casino otherwise I might just have sat there and people watched. I mean there were ladies with tons of tattoos all the way through people in fairly nice suits. Heavy people, skinny people, tall people, short people, oh and a ton of people watching the Detroit Tigers play and win their baseball game in the 13th inning. The place went crazy for a second when that happened. I thought someone hit a huge jackpot. I am sure if I were to look around a little more I could have found just about anything there.

Sunday was much more low key but I got to visit with the folks a little before heading home and dealing WITH THE DREADED ANTS. I do have a few pictures I should take and post. Maybe I will do that after the 55Flash. Tonight I am off to a baseball game. It is Thirsty Thursday where the beer (and pop) are much cheaper. Who ever heard of a $2.00 beer at a baseball game even though this is a minor league game? Oh yes, tonight should be fun.

Thirsty Thursday, here he comes!!!

I'm glad you had a good time at the casino. I have more fun watching people than playing too. There's just so many people from all walks of life. I had the chance to go today but I'm saving up for our Vegas trip. I'm going to Vegas next month!!!

Ants are boogers to get rid of. We get them here all the time. The ant traps are good because they carry that stuff back to their nest. Takes about 2 weeks or so but you get them all. We have to have terminex because of all the woods around us.

You celebrated your birthday again??? ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh ha ha ha ha ha ha! You go! I usually get a whole week of celebration in.

This year not so much. But I'll be ready for next year. LOL!

Little Wing, the early bird gets the worm and the occasional #1 spot. Woo hoo! I have never been big at just giving my money away thus the penny slots. Oh and thanks for the tip for my ants.

Sign Thirsty Thursday was a success. Several beers later with a dog thrown in for good measure and the home team won. People watching was a big hit yesterday. Have fun in Vegas. The stories you bring back will be priceless I am sure. Oh wait, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Oh well.

Milkmaid for some reason I have not had luck with traps in the past. I suppose I should give it a try again. It is about the only way to do it. Anything else is just a temporary fix.

S, George is fun, isn't he. You are so right. Maybe I will go for THREE m&m's at once. Oh and I can spend money sometimes but gambling has never been high on my list.

Tony, done and done. To funny. I just knew I was missing out. I could tell from knowing you and seeing the expressions. You did not disappoint.

Crabbs, where I live it is all sand. It is great because of how fast the property drains. It is not so great because of all the ants. Oh well, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. You know, I never do more celebrating for my birthday other than a day at work and a day with the folks. This is kind of the exception. I guess I just stole your birthday celebrating. I am all done now however.

Chrissie, why thank you. You know the waitress at the Hard Rock said I should celebrate turning 50 like all year long. That un-birthday think thing might just come in handy. A couple hundred on shoes. Boy, I just am not a shoe person I guess. I bet you own more shoes now than I have owned in my entire life. But at least you have the perfect shoe for any occasion. Tennis shoes go with everything, don't they?

Jan, no pictures to speak of. One problem with having the camera that I have is I do not take it with me most of the time as it is to big. I have only been in three Hard Rock's but I really do love them.

Thank you Lori. The birthday was an experience this year but this has to be a highlight for sure. You got me all a smiling again.

Jillie, I just know it. I can't believe mother nature is taking Wisconsin's side of things. No fair!!! I best be careful, they play again tonight. I think I better keep my windows closed at home just in case.

Little Wing, yep ... the beer tasted good but I had the sense to cut myself off as I was the driver too. The people watching was great... oh and they even played some baseball too. Oh I just remembered there was a group photo that will appear on a web site. I will have to share that when it happens.

JJ, your back. I visited you blog it it was back to a template. :( You know I started to give them names but when I squished Herman by accident I just did not have the heart to name any more of them. Do I dare see if your blog has resurfaced???

Is that the Lansing LugNuts?
Hope they won.

The Hard Rock is fun. They have great music playing and they have tons of memorabilia on the walls. Gotta love the place. That would be the team Top Cat. They managed to squeak out a win 8 to 1. OK, maybe it was not so close. But what a perfect night for sure to be at a ball game.
