Way Back Wednesday

While I am scanning slides and possibly pictures I thought I would post a few that I find that were cute or possibly interesting. So I am going to try and do that on Wednesdays for the next several weeks and see how that goes. I hoped that there were some real old pictures but it looks like, at least in the slides, we only go back to about 1964.

This is something I always remember. Now it is not because it was such a fun place to go to. It is more because my Dad took a couple of pictures and I remember seeing the slides over and over again. There first two are from a park. I thought it was in Wisconsin but now I am thinking it may have been in Indiana or Illinois somewhere near the border with Michigan. You can see both me (at about 6 or so?) and my sister who is 18 months younger. The picture I always remember, and I am glad I now hae a copy of, is the one of the two of us in a pumpkin. It is funny, I do not really remember the park but I do remember going around inside that pumpkin to find the holes so we could poke our heads out.

These I do believe are a couple of pictures from the Wisconsin Dells. I tell you, my Dad did not do to bad with the old camera. It would have been fun to take pictures with him. My Mom is the one that takes the pictures now. You know, I think I know the Chiefs name ... I think it was something like OhWhatABuckOfBull. Oh wait, I think that is a politician I am thinking about.

Well this is all for now. I have been so busy I did not get many slides scanned since Sunday but I am sure I will find a few more by next Wednesday. Happy hump day everyone.

Chrissie, we were not that far behind you. I think we went to Cedar Pointe (amusement park) a few times which kind of qualifies and we had that one vacation that these pictures are from where we went through Chicago, Wisconsin, and a few places in the UP but for the most part we did not do vacations.

My Dad was to busy just trying to provide for the family. It did not help that he had a couple of sickly kids when we were growing up.

I love looking through old pictures, it's nice how they can trigger memories from the past.
Great idea about posting these on Wednesday's.

Thank you for sharing these little slices of your life with us!
The pumpkin picture is so cool! Actually ALL of the pictures are awesome.
I agree with top cat, looking at photos can trigger memories from the past and they can also bring a huge smile to our face!

You know I am the same way Top Cat. I love it when people share old picture. I always find it interesting. I know about triggering memories. I can not wait to go through the pictures I took when I was in Europe back in '73 I believe. I did not take many but it will do the trick nicely.

Little Wing, the pumpkin pick brings back memories. I wish I had more fun pictures to share but I am sure I will squeeze out a few more fun ones. That and in the end I will be able to share these with everyone in the family if they are interested. A win win for sure.

MR. PEABODY! I love Mr. Peabody! That was the best cartoon!

I don't have any old pics of family vacations I'm scanning but I do have old teenager pics and even the dumbest looking wedding pics you ever saw. (mine of course. Only my wedding pics could come out laughable)

Your dad did a great job with that old camera. Did he develop his own pics?

Crabbs, I loved Mr Peabody. He always had such a unique way of looking at things and the intersting ending.

Your wedding was laughable ... and you two still got married. Bob was slipping even back then. I bet it is interesting to look back on those, especially the teenage pictures. Mine were not pretty. For a while there I had such long hair and, well lets just say I did not take as good of care as I should of it. Yuck.

My Dad did have some of the darkroom equipment that he got from one of his bosses but he never did do to much with it. Now a days who needs a dark room with what all thes fancy smancy programs can do?

LOL...love that name...Ohwhatabucketofbull. That would make for a very funny blog name!

That last picture definitely looks like the Dells. I've had a lot of fun there. The sad thing is that it's changed so much that I am not sure if I ever want to go back and destroy all of my memories of what it was.

;o))
