Monday, Bedlum |
OK I have been very lazy and have not posted any pictures from my vacation. Time to get started.
Over the weekend they were suppose to have the Great Balloon Race. Well if you know anything about hot air balloons, the weather has to be just right. Typically they can only launch in the early morning or late evening. Wind is a big problem especially the way the balloons were layed out. Long story short, the race did not happen.
Next up was Bedlum on Monday. Teams create beds out of anything they think they can push around a track and not have it fall apart. We did not make it there early enough to see the parade lap where all the beds had their special fancy tops on that they are judged on. We got there in time to see the races. The following series of pictures are from one successfull race that we saw.
This is the very beginning of the race as they rounded the first turn.
As they ran around the track the team on the inside needed to switch to the outside track and visa versa. Here you see one of the two teams that was rounding turn 3.
Here is the second team as they round turn 3. You would think they were losing but...
Here the two teams are just before crossing the finish line. Notice the red team is about to win.
Opps, how did that get in there? Umm, it's a crowd shot. Yes, that it, it is a crowd shot.
Click here to see how not to do the bed races. Note there are over 20 pictures on the page that you will be linked to so if you have a slow connection you may not want to check that page out.

why is there a pic of some hotties hiney? don't think that i didn't catch on to that. ha hahlooks like you had a great time.
i want to see horses. did you make book?
No entry from us M-E. Companies enter and I just watch. You saw through my crowd shot, darn! I will post horses tomorrow. Later on I will post waiters/waitreses running with wine. What a waist of good wine. I only bet at the Derby Party I went to and I lost my shirt. Actually I lost 70 cents but saying you lost your shirt sounds so much more impressive.
you're silly ha ha
if you visit me, i was a little angry, but i feel better now.
beeeeeeer :)
Well we chose three horses - it was going to be four but My Mum only fancied solo greys - and there were two this year. Chose Deputy Glitter (wife), Bobandjohn (me) and Bluegrass Cat (father-in-law, deceased). Well f-i-l did OK with a 2nd, and our horses are still grazing at the starting gate.
Rather liked the crows photo BAR, get her number?
OK - not crows - CROWD.
