55Flash Fiction Friday

Long and sleek, going on for as far as the eye can see. There is nothing like being at the rail at Churchill Downs watching the horses working out at dawn. The majestic race horses, the smells, the sounds of the galloping and trotting horses, the taste of the coffee and donuts. Life is good.

If you would like to learn more about Friday Flash Fiction Friday, click on the button on the left of my blog.

Here are some of the sights from when I went to Dawn at the Downs last year. I will be there again this year. This is my most favorite thing to do during Derby week aside from visiting with my best friends, much better than actually attending the Derby itself I might add. I am off this morning for Kentucky to visit with my friends. I will peek in as I can. I hope you have a wonderful week.

G-Man, this one was just OK but I knew what I wanted which was Derby related so there you are. I am not the best writer but this seems to be a fun thing to do.

TC, maybe some day I will publish a real, real, real, real short story. LOL Thanks TC, can't wait to visit with my friends and get a much needed break from work. I will do less Derby events this year then ever. One of the scheduled events is the great refrigerator pull of 2007. Some time ago we cleaned out in back of the fridge when I was down for the derby and we joke about it ever since. This is only a semi annual event.

Lime I am not much of a gambler but when I do go to the track and actually gamble I find I get all caught up in it even though I rarely win. Dawn at the Downs is just watching the horses work out and I love it because A) it is free B) it is not hurried or rushed C) I get to spend time with my best friend (probably both of them this year) D) the horses are such impressive animals it is fun to see them work out and notice their different personalities E) I get to take some nice pictures and I love to take pictures F) did I mention it is free?
