55Flash Fiction Friday

I can’t believe she agreed to a date. It’s been forever, I don’t know what to do. My stomach is uneasy, I’m sweating and my mouth is a desert. It’s not to late to bail but I wouldn’t do that.

At last I reach the front door only to find she’s sick. Life is cruel.

I have to blame some of the inspiration for this 55 on my vacation last week. It seemed there was something real nasty going around. 5 people I know got ill (at differing times) and could not keep a thing down. Luckily this only lasted 12 hours. I threw in the date part since, well it has been forever. I know all to well the uneasy feeling I get, that is just me I guess.

But then the challenge. How do I get that across and keep it to 55 words? Ever notice when someone is doing one of these how it is written. If someone is real good you do not notice it. Otherwise you see a lot of descriptive words popping out as you are trying to reach the goal of 55 words. In this case I was way over on words. I had to work to cut it down and still get something across, hence all the contractions and the many re-writes. Now I know why I do not make a living as a writer. I would starve.

If you want to try a 55 you can get a brief explanation by clicking the button in the side bar. Try it, you'll like it.

Happy Friday everyone.

It would have been heaps more fun if your mouth had been a dessert instead of a desert. That way you may have missed the date, but at least your mouth would have tasted good...

Whats wrong with that?
Most 55's are written exactly like the way you described it....
Good job, now we expect one every week now!
Did you tell Susie?

JJ, you are always thinking ahead. Now why didn't I think of that.

G-man, I will never be happy with what I write but I do feel good that I tried.

Gab sorry to hear that. If you are like the others I knew that got sick you should be over the worst of it and back to 100 percent your usual by tomorrow. Good luck.

Lime, if you would like to have the button or even just the picture you are welcome to it. It is something I came up with because I thought it deserved something. Here is the HTML with all less than and greater than symbols replaces with [ and ] respectively so I can post it in this comment. You will need to replace the [ and ] with the appropriate symbol to use it.

Hey there luv!
I just get so agg when I can't get online when I want to and be able to keep up w/ what's happening in Brian-Ville. :-{
I had that same bug you got,and oh my gosh...let me tell you,it was a total drag.It takes alot for me to miss work...but there was no way I could keep even water down,on top of the steady dry-heaving to even last an hour at work. Then when it's FINALLY over with, after a few days....your left tired, drug out,and weak and limp as a worn out dishrag.UuGH!
My heart goes out to you (just don't breathe on me please)LOL.
Oh hey! Guess what? I'm a "Mee-Mee"! Yup,my daughter had a precious 4 lb. 14 oz. baby boy.A'million Ma'cayden J----,is his whole name.I had a first name that I begged them to give him...but it didn't fly,so suppose A'million will have to grow on me.I guess it's OK,when you think of it like"he's ONE in a million"like Damien said.
Headed to that link you posted...curiousity is killing me about the 55 word thingy...???
Sending lotsa hugs,hun.

That's cool and thanks Lime. I kept looking for your blog off of comments and finally broke down and linked you a few weeks ago. I have to keep an eye on your mind. It is fascinating to watch in action. :)

Hi Tammi, sorry about the sickness thing. I do not know what has been going around but I have heard of it in Kentucky, Texas, and Minnesota at least and probably much more. It sure seems to be nasty. I hope you are all better again. Great to see you. And congratulations on being a Mee-Mee. Boy they sure are making Mee-Mee's young these days. Now about that Internet access...

JJ, why does not not surprise me. I would say I would be right over but I think I might just drown crossing the big pond.
