Christmas, bah, humbug

It's funny, this year I have avoided Christmas. I am only shopping for my neice. I will do the baking and the visiting and all but I have not set up Christmas stuff. I will be visiting with the family and friends and will certainly enjoy the goings on but it has been nice sort of avoiding Christmas.

Now that being said, I am surprised but I do miss it. I think what I need is a small dose of it. Something small to say I care about you but not all this darn commercialism. I hate what people turn into this time of the year.

I had a rude awakening last Saturday morning. Now I do not normally do this so I don't know, maybe this is normal but OMG. I went to the local super store and went grocery shopping. It was a mad house and people were being so rude and inconsiderate. There are fairly large isles yet people line up three carts wide and just sit there. One women was walking down a main isle very slowly and even stopping. This is the main isle for people to get around in. She had her daughter with her and she was circling the cart. Anyone that has ever driven in an Indy or NASCAR race would have been proud of her. Every time I even thought about passing them up her daughter cut me off. There was no way I was going to take the lead, no way I was going to win!

Sorry, I try to be extra patient this time of year but I think I best do my shopping at a time when the other amateurs go shopping. Either that or just go walking the store and do some people watching. Now that I bet would be outstanding.

Your soul is full of gunk.

Shopping ANYWHERE this time of year is sheer madness!!!!!
People seem to be especially hard to deal w/ in the grocery stores for some reason.... It's like they get there and THEN decide what they need to buy! Can you say LIST, people?!?!? :)
Try not to let it get to you too much. It'll be over before you know it!

Yes, shopping at Christmas (really, anytime!) is a drag... shoppers are definitely inconsiderate of others. I start my holiday shopping in August!!!!

We are very fortunate, most of the little ones are grown and are happy as a bug in a rug to get cash or gift certificates.
Online shopping is great too.

I know what you mean Bryan about people stopping in the main aisle and blocking traffic..what up with that?

I went to one of the dollar stores today. Big mistake.

Instead of waiting on customers, two employees were doing this set up.They were shoving all of the Christmas stuff into one isle and putting up the Valentines crap. What is up with that?

You could barely move because there were so many people in there. Arrrrrgh!

Hey Thwar, I can not even imagine being involved with retail. The abuse that is taken by the cashiers, stock people, customer support, and up is not pretty at all over here in the States. I truely feel bad for these people as it is their job to deal with it. Of course it is no ones right to be rude. If they are to bad the customer should be asked to leave. Sure the person may not shop there again but maybe that is a good thing. I learned a long time ago to treat people decent and even if they do not give you special treatment in return, at least you feel better about yourself and the whole situation.

I sometimes can't stand people this time of year. People are cutting you off everywhere--not only in the isles, but in the parking lots, on the roads, ---ugh..... can't wait till the holidays are OVER! (ba! humbug!)

I worked many years in retail. I can't impress upon you the exhaustion of the Christmas season. I can remember standing on my feet (in 4 inch heels, I was young and dumb) for 10-12 hours, then sleeping 4 hours and right back at it. My feet hurt for 3 weeks straight.

No matter how hard you tried to please some people, it just wasn't enough for them.

Because of this I am always extra kind and sympathetic to anyone in a service type job, especially at this time of the year.

Hey thanks for stopping by the blog. Yes all my curling escapades are documented on the blog! My hubby travels alot to MI and recently visited the Detroit Curling Club.
He said everyone was nice and the person he talked to actually knew someone that he used to curl with in Madison, WI.

I'll stop by too from time to time. And you like ELO. This is good.

Hi Sabatkes, I look forward to visiting you blog in the future. I think it will be fun and I look forward to your curling adventures. I do miss the game.

I was a member of the Detroit Club many years ago but they seemed like really good people. See you around.

Anne I think there is a bit of good about this time of year but it also seems to bring out the nastyness in people. I look forward to the holidays being over ... after visiting with family of course. Thanks for stopping by and thank you.

Barman--Come shopping with me--I show no mercy. If you're in the way-move. If you're insistent on sauntering throughout the store--you're in trouble. I get in, and then get out. There's no need for that crap!

Oh, and Merry Christmas. ;-)
