Flu Shots

I know this is kind of controversial. Some people really believe in a flu shot. Other either think they are ineffective or they are a bad thing and just usually get you sick.

Myself I have been getting vaccinated when ever it was available and I was feeling well. Luckily that is most of the time. Now does it make a difference? I am not sure but I really believe if it does not stop you from getting the flu, it at least makes it so you do not get the flu as bad. Personally I do it since I think it does make a difference and work usually offers it for free. I would guess it is an effort to keep the workforce a little more healthy. Well they offer us the flu shot on Tuesday and I will be there in line as I have managed to stay healthy.

So how about you... any thoughts about the flu shorts that are usually available throughout the United States to people? Do you partake? Oh and pardon my ignorance as I really do not know if this same thing is offered in Canada, Mexico, over seas or where ever.

You know that little shot you gave me for the flu? --M*A*S*H

Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! I've had them, and doc advises me to have them. But personally, I think there are so many strains of flu that one can be immune to ALL. That's my thoughts and I'm sticking to it. LOL

Thanks for the visit yesterday to my blog on the re-enactment of the WW II

Hope your arm isn't too sore for the vaccine.

Happy Monday Bryan

Unless you have a severe illness or asthma you have to buy the vaccine yourself.

Some of the companies offer it to their employees like over there in the States.

I have had it in the past and agree that it seems to reduce the symptoms substantially.

I started getting a shot when I worked at the nursing home Now I do it because I live with grandkids and you all know how they are about washing hands etc. I dont know if it really protects you but heck I really get sick after having one. As much as I hate shots and needles Im ready for mine!

i've been getting it for years and only once did i get really sick from it, like a mini-flu and it only lasted that night.

i figure if it keeps you from getting sick even once, or lessens the severity if you do get the flu, then it's worth it.

and i've already done the deed for this year!

I hate seeing kristen's arm hurt after she gets her flu shot.

I've only gotten it once in my life.(the flu shot)
I have a funny feeling about these shots based on nothing but my gut feelings.
The idea of injecting myself with a virus just doesn't settle with me.

take care bryan

i know you would Top Cat, you are just that way. Somehow I think Kristen has felt worse, she is raising two young boys nad I bet they have managed to drag her into lots of intersting things all the time.

I know what you mean about the virus. It does seen wrong for sure. I feel it helps as long as you are not sick when you get it. Of course I think waching your hands many times a day probably does even more for you.

You take care to TC.

Kristen if it hurts, maybe you should not do it! Want me to liss it and make it better?

Ell, when I have been run down and not feeling the best then it has affected me for several days. For the most part the worst I have is, like Kristen, my arm hurts some of the time. I tried to get mine done sooner by paying for it but I ended up forgetting three times in one weekend and they have not been in the area. Oh well, tomorrow, 10:30 and I will be done too.

Gab the shorts are not my favorite but I do not mind for the hope it might help.

Suze it sounds like things are pretty much the same over in UK as they are on this side of the pond. Thanks I wondered about that.

Wystful1 you are so right about the flu. They try and hit the most likely one that will hit but but they do not know for sure. And yes there are tons of strains. I figure I will spin the bottle and see how it turns out. Thank goodness, I think I will be doing fine for tomorrow. Ny the way, I loved the pictures. I would have been nice to have seen the planes even closer up.

I use to get them. About 4 or 5 years back I had a fever, so they wouldn't give me one. I haven't had one since.

I'm a firm believer that flu shots keep you healthy. When I was younger, I used to get terrible bouts of the flu and bronchitis at the beginning of every winter. I would be sick and rundown for weeks on end.

Since I started getting flu shots, I haven't had the flu or a cold in many years. I'm proof they really do work.

Cheers,
Carol

Mandy they are not for everyone. I know a couple of people that got sick too, myself included once. For me it was because I was sick when got the shot. The others had alergy problems. That is not saying it was not the shot.
