Bye, Bye, Blackbird

I do not know what it is but the birds are mean today. I mean normally you hear their song in the morning but today it has a real nasty tone to it. There are a whole bunch of black birds in the area and I do not thing the other birds are liking it one bit.

You know I have not seen a robin, blue jay, or cardinal this morning either. I think someone is doing a remake of the Hitchcock movie, the birds. If you do not hear from me any more it will be from those nasty birds that are in the area.

An example of something I just saw play out. Three birds landed on my deck in this flower planter. There are no flowers in it but the squirrels and birds seem to love it so I have not done anything with it. Anyway, two of them were black birds, one was a brown bird. The one on its left was picking on the brown bird and even pecked inside the other birds mouth. Now I have seen that happen when mother birds were feeding their young but boy they are just being vicious.

OK, wish me well. Time to get ready for work and make a dash for my car. Good thing it is near the door. Hopefully the birds are not so nasty when I get to work. That would be a fun dash into work for sure.

Wow, just looked it up. They could both be blackbirds. It sounds about right. They say the male is black with yellow bill and eyes while the female is brown. Hey anyone want some blackbirds cheap, free even. Bring back my regular birds.

Oh and there is a robin. I think they are trying to lull me into taking them for granted. My trip to the car this morning just might be exciting.

Barman,

Sometimes throughout the day I write down ideas for blog posts, or thoughts that might inspire me to write about something, a quote, a song, an event, a happening etc.

Mostly I do nothing with these thoughts but satisfy my OCD need to create obsessive lists of random shit.

But, one thing that I scribbled upon my pad last night stuck with me until the morn.

It was a song.

'Blackbird,' by the Beatles.

Perhaps, I really will do something with it at some point.

Mean birds are people too. Maybe they just wanted attention. I think just that you wrote about them might be enough.

Sometimes we interpret things in our minds quite differently than they actually are...maybe the birdie wasn't poking the other birdie's mouth. Maybe they were kissing! Maybe it wasn't meant maliciously...maybe they like it rough!

I know I do.

I like your birdie friends.

Have a good day, Barman.

Maybe they do like it rought. :)

When I walked out of the house this morning I had another bird return that I have not seen this year, the woodpecker. It comes back every year and always pounds away on this one certain spot on top of the telephone pole between me and my neighbors property.

I really am not a bird person per say but I do notice them, especially certain ones. Oh well, I will have to look at the blackbirds from a totally different point of view now and see what I see.

LOL! This is such a good time to send you a copy of Hitchcock's, "The Birds".

Sometimes birds get nasty in the spring because they're defending their nests and junk.

I don't know. I have a bird problem of my own I'll have to post about soon as I get a pic to go with it. We're being haunted. I'm not kidding.

Birds can't say stuff like this in case they are accused of being racist towards black birds...

Bryan, maybe they were Grackles.
Grackles are mean SOB's. I've seen them attack small birds and literally peck their heads off.
They are black and irredescent.

Those bastards keep waking me up at 4:30am. I have to get up and shut the windows. Maybe you sent them over?

Imp I know they are watching and so are the squirrels. It is a conspiracy I tell you.

Denny, either that or I need to wear white.

Chrissie I will need to keep that in mind. Are your ravens for hire? I might just have a job for them.

Crabby, the Birds with a nice big white spot on the cover of it. I swear they are organizing. Can I keep them from forming a union? If these are black birds it says they defend their area and chase away other males. Wait, that kind of sounds like bullies at the beach.

Pixie I would never testify against them. They would kick my ass for sure.

Lady Roxanne, want to try a little experiment? Get some Red Robins season salt and sprinkle it on something that is cooking. See if that will scare them. I mean what is Robin salt made from anyway? :) Hey you may be evil but you are not mean. They are not even paying rent anyway.

Top Cat, I will try and get my camera all set up so I can take a picture of my various birds. Then maybe someone that knows more than I can ID them. These did seem mean.

Lime I will keep that in mind. We probably could take care of this in one weekend. I will pay gas and keep them well fed and a bounty of course.

Kristen I think they are OK but we did have a couple downtown that even I was scared of. They were Peregrine Falcons. They are good size, super strong and have talons that are huge. Just you think of canneries, cute little canneries.

Sign I though you sent them over. You don't suppose G-man did that. They are making all kinds of noise long before the sun rises.

BAR,
go to the office and ask MD, your bird expert what is going on. This is nothing unusual - just Spring courtship.
