Racey Porn

OK, is it just me or are you getting tired of the “race card” being played all the time over here in America? One of the latest examples, Michael Vick the soon to be former NFL football player. It would seem that Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton jump up and down about how all this was happening because he was a black man. Do you see it, there it was ... the race card. It would appear now that Michael Vick was being prosecuted because he was a BAD MAN.

It is funny, I have not been following the news all that much lately. What coverage I saw of the Michael Vick story never once mentioned his race. I did not see any pictures of him. I did not know who he was. So at least to me it seemed like things were being reported fairly. But what I did not see is Jackson and Sharpton saying he is being picked on because he is black.

Now I must admit that I do not condone what was done. I do see it as a problem especially the way the animals were treated but it did seem that things were being prosecuted pretty extreme. Extreme that is until more facts came out. But what I would like to know is, why is it that Jackson and Sharpton can jump in and fan the flames and make things worse and, when it is apparent they were wrong, just bow out and never say they were wrong. They do it time and again. Can we say the Duke Lacrosse team for one.

Sorry for all of that. It just bugged me a little when I heard this on the news.

OK, different subject. Do you get junk mail? Well I do. I keep getting offers for real cheap Adobe Photoshop for one. The full package is probably $600 full price but of course no one pays full price. I was wandering around last year trying to get a deal and I finally did find a deal. By making use of Adobe's upgrade policy I was able to purchase and old French copy of the program and get a legal upgrade to Photoshop CS2 for a little over $300. Now I get these junk emails for bootleg copies of Photoshop for between $80 and $130. You know they can not be legal. OK, I brought that on myself. But I get other stuff also.

Lately what I see are emails from what would appear to be perfectly legit people. But it is the subject line that kills me. It will usually be one to five words in length and make no sense what so ever. It so stands out like a sore thumb. Why would anyone fall for what ever they are doing? Inside they usually ask you to reply to them at a strange looking email address. It turns out what is happening is your email, should you fall for what they are doing, will appear like it was bounced but in fact what happened is your email address was harvested so they can use it, or more likely sell it to someone else. Luckily I did not fall for it but instead looked up on the WEB what was going on.

What ever happened to the free porn offers in email? I guess I better start wardering around some more on the WEB. My junk mail has gotten to be boring.

Because that's what they do; that's they're schtick! They exploit scenarios to stay in the public eye and the more controversial the better.

Idiots. Black, white, yellow, purple or blue... they'd all be idiots.

Apologies if I omitted a color -- I probably did so intentionally, yet unconsciously. :)

Happy Tuesday!

Jackson and Sharpton are professional agitators who pull this card so often they run the risk of crying "wolf" when there are REAL cases of racism to be dealt with.
I've been pretty lucky, my spam guard in YahOO email catches most of the stuff before I see it.

I mostly get junk mail containing software and Rx drug offers. Probably at least 20 of each every week. My spam guard blocks most of the other junk.

Warning. Racism is a bad subject to get me started on.

Race Card:
I think most African-Americans are embarrassed by Sharpton and Jackson. I agree with the other comment that they have lost credibility by jumping in at the wrong time too often. There are a lot of people that believe there has been so much unanswered racism, that Sharpton, Jackson and their ilk have accumulated an enormous amount of “Cry Wolf” credits. Enough credits to last a life time. I guess I can see their point.

Unfortunately there’s still plenty of racism around the world. Did you catch the story last week about the Neo-Nazi group in Russia. They posted a video that appears to be the beheading of two people. The following is an article... not the video:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article2266740.ece

Even in the good old USA there’s a surprising (and embarrassing) amount of racism. I occasionally get a forwarded chain mail that’s littered with hate for pretty much every ethnic group. Often in the form of “jokes”. Pam and I have ended friendships more than once after someone tells a joke that’s racist.

A good rule of thumb for humor. If you wouldn’t be completely comfortable saying it in the presence of ethnic coworkers or friends, it’s probably not really acceptable and/or worthy of being repeated.

Sorry about such a long remark. Hope I didn’t offend anyone.

Donna I agree, idiots is a good word to describe them and others. I think what it does is make people no longer pay attention when they are involved.

TC, I do take it as crying wolf myself. I wish they would not do that because there are incidents that happen all the time that scream racism and I think this lessens peoples response to it.

Bob, I so tend to ignore things when I see either of these two people involved and just automatically side against what ever way they stand. I know there is still racism around. I hear it in jokes, I hear it in comments people make. And it is so hard to know if someone really means something or not. I once was telling a Afro-American joke to a friend who was afro-american. I felt comfortable doing so because I did not mean anything by it and he knew that. Later someone else told a joke to him but he took offense because, unlike me, he most likely ment it.

Since that time I tend to keep most jokes of that nature to myself or most likely just forget it. I mean I am part polish and I think polish jokes are OK mostley because I see them as really stupid things that have no meaning. My Mom, however, really is offended by those type of jokes. I think it is best that people just stay away from things like that.

Wow, I am surprised you stopped friendships over a racial joke like that. Good for you. I am not sure if I would have done that as I usually role with the punches but I suppose if it was bad enough I would have done the same thing. Now I kind of feel bad that I would just let something like that slide.

Thanks for your comments Bob, that was wonderful to read.

Lime, I just wish they could find something where they could actually do some good instead or making things worse. There are still lots of things that need to be worked on.

OOOO. I'm sounding in on this. I am so damned sick of Sharpton and Jackson I could hurl chunks.

And Michael Vick needs to be put in a cell with a bunch of big, harry, toothless, dog lovers who'll give him an up close and personal look at what it feels like to be in a fight you can't win.

You're also forgetting about Barry Bonds playing the race card. I don't care who you are, what your color or religion is...if you fuck up...you pay up! END OF STORY!!

They say that Michael Vick didn't get to where he got to today by being dumb or without talent. Ummm...let me think about that one. I'm thinking he was pretty damn STUPID to give up a multi million dollar career for a few thousand dollars. You do the math. The sad thing about it is those innocent dogs paid with their lives of being mistreated and died for his stupidity!!!!!!!

They learned well from the father of community organizing, Saul Alinsky (he wasn’t African-American), who advocated, among other things, that the oppressed must keep their issues before the eyes and ears of the oppressors.

Crabby I can not believe it the more I hear about Michael Vick. I just do not understand first how he could be so cruel to animals and second, he had so much that he just threw away.

Jillie I agree. He lost a lot by doing what he appears to have done. Some people have no sense. And, in a perfect world I would love to think you are judges by what you do, not anything else. Of course I realize that even I can be a little prejudiced sometimes and I hate that when I recognize that.

But Nick, I guess I keep thinking about it when they are involved but I also know I tend to automatically be totally against what ever they are for because of their past history. At least for me I do not think it worked.
