Meltdown

Sorry for the prior post. Here in Michigan we have a mayor, the honorable mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick. Actually I am not sure how honorable he is. Anyway he is in meltdown mode now. He has been accused of a bunch of things in the past but somehow nothing ever stuck. Well now things are beginning to stick. He is now accused of 10 felonies in the past 8 months.

The Governor started proceedings yesterday to determine if the mayor should be removed from office at the request of the Detroit City Council. If she is allowed to complete the proceedings, it appears she will be wrapping things up by Saturday or early next week. She has promised a quick decision. Now I say if she is allowed to complete things because the mayor has filled with the Michigan Supreme court to stop the proceedings. Also there is talk of the mayor taking a plea deal where he pleads guilty to some charges, leaves office, gets jail time, probably is disbarred, and who knows what else. I tell you, who needs a soap opera when we have a reality based soap opera right here in our own backyard.

This was a private little affair. Then it spread to the suburbs around the Detroit area (where I was from which is why I have been following it even more close than most). Then it went state wide and yesterday I see the Governor proceedings were being telecast on CSpan 2 which means it is national. Boy when he messes up he sure does it up well.

Anyway we have a slightly used mayor up here. Any takers? I wonder if Ray Nagin, mayor of New Orleans should be replaced... I certainly think so. I think we have a replacement that is just corrupt enough to fit right in.

Update: A sad day in Michigan as the mayor of Detroit pleads guilty to two felony counts with six other felony counts being dismissed. He also pleads no contest to one additional felony count with another felony count being dismissed. He must leave office with 2 weeks, go to jail, be on probation and pay restitution. The meltdown is complete and he is only 38 years old. I am sure repercussions on this will be felt for a long time to come.

No need to apologize, Bryan! You have many Michigan readers who understood the post and foreigners such as me have learned something!

Hey nick, most people here could care less. I just had to follow this however.

Ciara, I like the Arnoldnator. It could have been worse. I bough some coffee mugs and a couple of signs to support this one 20 something gal that was running for Governor at the same time Arnold baby was. Sarah possible. Anyway she was in data processing and so am I so I thought why not show her some love. To bad, she lost.

That man is an idiot!! He's been laughing in the face of Detroit for years. I hate that the justice system is as poor as it is.

Susie the election will not be boring with you doing fashion commentary, that is for sure. We have some weirdo's over here too, trust me.

Sign, I have been waiting for him to end up out of office since the party in the mansion that never occurred of course. He should have stepped down ages ago. I watched his speech for the people of Detroit tonight. He sounded like I did wrong but then you look at it and I think he was barely saying that but more he was saying look at all the wonderful thing I have done, Grandholm is an idiot, thank God for being with me, and I will be back. A fool to the very end. Yep, I am happy to see him out of here.

Oh that is right, they were down there for 6 weeks this summer.

Lime I am basing it on when Katrina came through. I though Nagin was such a jerk. Everything he seemed to do just inflamed people. He was fighting with the Governor, how stupid is that? And every time I hear him talk he just sent me over the edge. I am not surprised to hear he is as bad as I suspected.

Gosh BAR, and I thought all along that you were non-partisan. I live and learn. I wonder who else is reading your blog?

God bless America, land of the free. (Unless you screw up of course).

Gogo, I do not care what party a person is. If they screw up as bad as Kilpatric did (and Nagin too) then I think they belong out of office. Even in the city of Detroit a majority of people thought Kilpatric needed to go.

And I say it is a sad day because I know that at least some of the people that live in Detroit will hold this against the WHITE Governor and the people from the suburbs and not focus on all the man did wrong. How can you ever trust him?

So if you want to call me partisan, go ahead but what I said here is about an incompetent untrustworthy person and not about a Democrat.
