Bryan's Bad Vinyl

First I found this on BWH and it seemed like an interesting idea.

What is that vinyl record that you owned that you are none to proud of. The one you would never admit to having owned much less listen to.

Well for me there are several strange ones. One was The Yellow Pages. Another was The Fat Mattress. Now you have to understand that when I was growing up the first 12 albums or so I owned I went to the store and bought anything that was in the bargin bin. In a collection of about 150 albums, however, there are plenty that people would think I was strange for. It was fun just going through them (yes I still have them but not a working turntable). I thought you might get a kick out of this one. I did not realize that this group was much larger than I thought. This is the Crazy World of Arthur Borwn.

Looking at the back of the album I guess I like a bit of the music on here so maybe this is not so bad after all.

Why don't you give it a shot. Got any deep dark secrets in your past when it comes to vinyl records you owned?

I so remember that song. It kind of fits in with Ceclia by Tonic Sol Fa. Who is that? I knew the song but never the group.

Oh no....deep dark secrets? Does stealing count? NOT from a store mind you from a friend! Oh Im soooo bad. But they were all good albums..Beatles,Monkeys and gosh I cant remember the others. I was so jealous that she had all the good albums and so they disappered one night. Thing is when she accused me of stealing I told her look for yourself(I had hid them at another girlfriends house) She never found them so she figured it was another friend who stole them. Years later I gave her some money(from my babysitting days) and told her what I had done. She laughed and said hey I didnt like those albums anyways my friends would have laughed at me for owning them. And she gave me the money back. The next year she was killed in a car accident. Man the guilt over that one!

How is it that everyone has vinyl in a box somewhere but nowhere to play it?

I have lots of albums I would love to hear again, minus the crackle. Hooray for the CD.

I've tried to replace most of my favourite oldies but some are not available in CD format. :(

It's so long since I took a look in that box...I can't think of any record I would now not wish to listen to.

patti_cake that would be the "Ceclia" I was thinking about.

Brighton, I am old. I know who they are but never had the pleasure other than I remember MTV, back when they had music, with them and these strange hats and probably singing "Whip it." Fun times.

Oh Gab I was not heading there. I just ment music that you may not want to fess up to owning. But since you spilled. I have an album myself that does not belong to me called Tublar Bells with the song from the Exercist. Maybe I should go visit father denny on that one next weekend.

Suze I have done the same things where I can. I have 150 albums (wow) and there are certainly a bunch I would love to have again. I have them on a shelf. I probably should box them up. What I could I bought already but there are still others. Should I buy a turntable just so I can hear it (and the scratches and pops and...) again? I haven't so far. Oh I have two that have not been opened. I had hopes to sell it on eBay but so far it is not worth it. I guess I will not be retiring any time soon.

Oh, oh, oh. Pick me, pick me Indiansfan. I know the song but not the singer but I did find it. It was Leslie Gore. I like songs from back then. How about Downtown and These Boots Were Made for Walking. Back in those days I was listening to them on AM radio.

Hey...Little Jimmy Dickens, 'Take and old cold tater and wait!' I dig that one. lol. I have a closet full of old albums. All in good shape too! For the 60's no doubt. I miss the album art so much! It was really trippy. And what about the classic, WHO'S NEXT? Damn, that was great stuff...Thanks for clicking your heels to the oldies. lol.

Oh OHC, I have heard of them but did not own anything by them. I really agree about the album art. Is was fun remembering my past by all that I listened to while growing up. Good or bad it still brings back memories.
