Busy Sunday

It was suppose to be an entire weekend project but it turned unto a 7 hour project on Sunday. My garage is a disaster. Half of it has always been a mess but when the spring broke and I could not get the door open any more I figured that is OK during the summer. Then I started to dump stuff in there without even thinking about storing it away. So now I have a huge mess and there is no way to get anyone in to work on the door.

TIME TO CLEAN UP

Well that is the project. I had moved a bunch of stuff outside earlier in thw week and tarped it because of the bad weather we have been having. This afforded me some breathing space so I could start organizing. I cleaned up a bunch of messed and took up a ton of dirt from the floor. Where did this call come from? Anyway to make a long story short I am aways from being done but I am getting rid of this one thing that probably was a bar in a previous life that never really worked out well for storage and replacing it with three heavy duty racks capable of holding 1,000 on each of the five shelves each unit has.

This will give me 2 1/2 times the storage and it will allow me to get some stuff off the floor. Stuff like fertilizer, topsoil, room air conditioner units, etc. This in itself should go a long ways to getting the garage clean. Now if I can only get a day off so I can concentrate on the garage. I need to start parking indoors, it is almost Winter and it is Michigan after all.

And here I thought we were the only family with severe garage storage challenges!

Between my husband's 69 Mach 1 (or at least a shell of it -- seriously the engine is somehwere in there garage), and his other stuff (and you know the rule; stuff bjust breeds more stuff), there wasn't room to enter.

He bought some of the shelves you pictured, and they're great, however, the best thing he found to maximize storage space in the garage were HyLoft® Adjustable Ceiling-Mounted Garage Shelving.

It's actually shelving you can suspend from your garage's ceiling -- I even have a little slice of the garage now for my projects!

Donna I saw the shelves you are talking about when I was looking for these shelves. The ones I saw were 4 foot but 4 foot. That just might be a great idea. I have to keep that in mind when I run out of space again. Thanks.

we don't have a garage and we live in a tiny apartment. Since Bob is a self employed construction worker he has soooooo many tools and pieces/parts to store, so we rent a storage unit. Everytime I go there with him to either get something out or put something in...I swear when the door goes up that something is going to fall out. He has so many different boxes of nails and screws that I doubt he knows 1/2 of what he has. I think Santa needs to buy him a shelving unit just like you have pictured here for xmas so you can atleast see the floor. I'm sure a 4ft by 4ft would be just the right one.

If it were not for my shed, I'd be in big trouble.

Bryan, very brave of you to go head on and tackle your garage. I have been watching our's slowly disappear under the rubbish for months.

Maybe this weekend I will move a few things. Lol
